DTC P1A57:  Traction Motor Phase Current Sensor

General Description

GHH381806Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The power control unit (PCU) controls the motor output based on the motor phase current sensor signals. If the difference in amplitude of the 3-phase current sensor output is the threshold or more for a specified time, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 340 milliseconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Traction motor speed 500 rpm -
12 volt battery voltage 8 V -

Malfunction Threshold

If all of the differences in amplitude of phase current from the current sensor is more than 141.6 A for at least 340 milliseconds.

Possible Cause

NOTE:  The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
