DTC P1A54:  Traction Motor Control Module Torque Control Performance

General Description

GHH381803Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The power control unit (PCU) controls the motor output based on the motor phase current sensor signals. When the motor control module in the PCU malfunctions, there is a possibility that the motor torque cannot be controlled properly. If the difference between the target motor torque and the estimated motor torque is out of a specified value, the motor control module detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration Depending on the driving conditions
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on

Enable Conditions

Condition
Vehicle ON mode

Malfunction Threshold

The difference between the target motor torque and the estimated motor torque which is presumed by the angle and the current is equal to or more than the value listed in following table. The judgment duration depends on the threshold.

Difference between target and estimated motor torque Judgment duration
292.0 N.m (29.8 kgf.m, 216 lbf.ft) 433 milliseconds
269.0 N.m (27.5 kgf.m, 199 lbf.ft) 476 milliseconds
246.0 N.m (25.1 kgf.m, 182 lbf.ft) 526 milliseconds
223.0 N.m (22.8 kgf.m, 165 lbf.ft) 586 milliseconds
200.0 N.m (20.4 kgf.m, 148 lbf.ft) 661 milliseconds
177.0 N.m (18.1 kgf.m, 131 lbf.ft) 754 milliseconds
154.0 N.m (15.8 kgf.m, 114 lbf.ft) 876 milliseconds
131.0 N.m (13.4 kgf.m, 97 lbf.ft) 1.1 seconds
108.0 N.m (11.1 kgf.m, 80 lbf.ft) 1.3 seconds
82.0 N.m (8.4 kgf.m, 61 lbf.ft) 1.7 seconds

Possible Cause

NOTE:  The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
