DTC P1437: Traction Motor Inverter Short
General Description
Symptom 1
When an overcurrent (short circuit current) passes through the IGBT at the traction motor side, the power control unit (PCU) detects a trouble (SC) with the GDIC function and, at the same time when outputting a failure information (SC) to the main microcomputer, blocks a gate signal. The failure information (SC) from the GDIC is released after a specified time has elapsed if the failure is restored to normal. If a specified number of SC signals are issued, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Symptom 2
When a trouble with the power supply which drives the IGBT at the traction motor side occurs, the PCU detects a trouble (F15V) with the GDIC function and, at the same time when outputting a failure information (F15V) to the main microcomputer, blocks a gate signal. If an F15V signal and CAN information (TRC FO) from the high-voltage microcomputer are detected for a specified time, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
One of these symptoms occurs:
Symptom 1
- If an SC detection arising from IGBT overcurrent (short circuit current) occurs 3 times consecutively.
Symptom 2
- If an F15V detection (F15V detection and CAN information (TRC FO) from the high-voltage microcomputer) arising from a trouble with the power supply which drives the IGBT occurs continuously for at least 120 milliseconds.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
