DTC P0AF2
DTC P0AF2: Traction Motor Inverter Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit
General Description
The power control unit (PCU) monitors the IGBT chip and board temperature sensor values to prevent malfunctions of the chip and other parts due to heat generation. The motor control module in the PCU compares the output temperature difference between the IGBT chip temperature sensor and the board temperature sensor at system activation timing, and if the difference exceeds a malfunction threshold for a specified time, the motor control module detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

[ ]: HDS Parameter
Malfunction Threshold
The output temperature difference between the IGBT chip temperature sensor and the board temperature sensor at system activation timing is more than 84 deg.F (47 deg.C) or less than -83 deg.F (-46 deg.C) for at least 100 milliseconds.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- PCU internal failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the motor control module memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
