DTC P0A92:  Generator Motor Performance

General Description

GHH381767Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

If the performance of the generator motor drops, the output torque may be difficult to control as specified. To monitor the performance of the generator motor torque, the motor control module monitors the estimated torque. If the estimated torque cannot follow the specified torque for a specified time, the motor control module in the power control unit (PCU) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 3 seconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Generator motor speed (absolute value) [Motor Speed (GEN)] 2, 200 rpm -

[ ]: HDS Parameter

Malfunction Threshold

If the estimated torque falls below the torque reduction threshold provided by the specified torque for at least 3 seconds. A torque reduction threshold is the following value.

Generator motor torque command Torque reduction threshold
-85 N.m (-8.6 kgf.m, -62.6 lbf.ft) -59 N.m (-6.0 kgf.m, -43.9 lbf.ft)
-50 N.m (-5.1 kgf.m, -36.9 lbf.ft) -28 N.m (-2.8 kgf.m, -20.6 lbf.ft)
50 N.m (5.1 kgf.m, 36.9 lbf.ft) 28 N.m (2.8 kgf.m, 20.6 lbf.ft)
85 N.m (8.6 kgf.m, 62.6 lbf.ft) 59 N.m (6.0 kgf.m, 43.9 lbf.ft)

Possible Cause

NOTE:  The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
