DTC P0A41: Traction Motor Rotor Position Sensor Circuit Low
General Description
The power control unit (PCU) detects the traction motor position by the R/D converter based on the traction motor motor rotor position sensor signals. If the sine/cosine signal offset voltage is a specified voltage for a specified time, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
Sine/cosine signal offset voltage is 2.00 V or less for at least 210 milliseconds.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Traction motor motor rotor position sensor S1M/S2M/S3M/S4M line open
- Traction motor motor rotor position sensor S1M/S2M/S3M/S4M line short to ground
- Traction motor motor rotor position sensor miss installed
- Traction motor motor rotor position sensor failure
- PCU internal failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
