DTC P0A3F: Traction Motor Rotor Position Sensor Circuit
General Description
The power control unit (PCU) detects the traction motor rotor position by the R/D converter based on the traction motor motor rotor position sensor signals. If either of following conditions occurs, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
- Tracking loop abnormal bit detection counter exceeds a specified time.
- Deviation between the R/D converter angular velocity and the angular velocity calculated from electrical angle exceeds a specified value.

Malfunction Threshold
Either of the conditions occurs:
- R/D converter tracking loop abnormal bit is as 1 for at least 310 milliseconds.
- Deviation between the R/D converter angular velocity and the angular velocity calculated from electrical angle is 2, 000 rad/s or more for at least 400 milliseconds.

- Traction motor motor rotor position sensor line failure
- Traction motor motor rotor position sensor failure
- PCU internal failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
