DTC P0A2F:  Traction Motor Over Temperature

The traction motor is cooled by an automatic transmission fluid (ATF)-based oil cooling system and the motor control module obtains traction motor temperature signal to monitor whether the temperature is normal. The motor control module detects a malfunction and stores a DTC when the traction motor temperature is abnormally high for the prescribed time or more.

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 3 seconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on

Enable Conditions 

Condition  
Vehicle ON mode

Malfunction Threshold 

The traction motor temperature is more than 364 deg.F (184 deg.C) for at least 3 seconds.

Diagnosis Details 

Conditions for setting the DTC 

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC 

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
