DTC C1110-11, C1111-11

DTC C1110-11  : Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator Circuit Short to Ground

DTC C1111-11  : Right Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator Circuit Short to Ground

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

C1110-11 Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator Circuit Short to Ground  
C1111-11 Right Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator Circuit Short to Ground  

DTC (VSA)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then to the ON mode.

    -4. Apply and release the parking brake several times.

    -5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    C1111-11 Right Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator Circuit Short to Ground  

    Is DTC C1110-11 or C1111-11 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting .

  2. Shorted wire check (EPB_L_ACT+, EPB_R_ACT+ lines)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector
    Appropriate electric parking brake actuator 4P connector

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Appropriate electric parking brake actuator 4P connector: disconnected
    DTC Test point 1 Test point 2
    C1110-11 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 8 Body ground
    C1111-11 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 5 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The EPB_L_ACT+ and EPB_R_ACT+ wires are OK. Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Repair a short to body ground in the wires between the VSA modulator-control unit and the appropriate electric parking brake actuator.

  3. Shorted wire check (EPB_L_ACT-, EPB_R_ACT- lines)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Appropriate electric parking brake actuator 4P connector: disconnected
    DTC Test point 1 Test point 2
    C1110-11 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 7 Body ground
    C1111-11 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 6 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Repair a short to body ground in the wires between the VSA modulator-control unit and the appropriate electric parking brake actuator.

  4. Electric parking brake actuator check

    -1. Substitute a known-good electric parking brake actuator .

    -2. Reconnect the following connectors.

    VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector
    Appropriate electric parking brake actuator 4P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then to the ON mode.

    -6. Apply and release the parking brake several times.

    -7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    C1111-11 Right Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator Circuit Short to Ground  

    Is DTC C1110-11 or C1111-11 indicated?

    YES 

    Check for loose terminals and poor connections in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting. If they are OK, replace the VSA modulator-control unit .

    NO 

    Replace the appropriate electric parking brake actuator .
