DTC P1673:  IGHLD Relay Circuit

The battery condition monitor module commands IGHLD1 relay to turn ON or permit it to turn OFF to the motor control module. The battery condition monitor module monitors IGHLD1 relay voltage at all times. When the IGHLD1 relay output and the voltage does not match a specified time, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.

Duration 5.0 seconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL off, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 VOLT CHARGING SYSTEM indicator off

Enable Conditions 

Condition Minimum Maximum
12 volt battery voltage 8.2 V -

Malfunction Threshold 

One of these conditions is met for at least 5.0 seconds:

Diagnosis Details 

Conditions for setting the DTC 

When a malfunction is detected, the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the battery condition monitor module memory. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC 

The POWER SYSTEM indicator is cleared if the malfunction does not return in the next trip in which the diagnostic runs. The POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
