DTC P158B:  HV Battery Current Sensor 1 Circuit

General Description

GHH375133Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

Battery condition monitor module controls the charging/discharging of the high-voltage battery, based on the signal of battery current sensor. If the ISOC signal voltage output by battery current sensor deviates from the normal range and does not reach the failure level triggered by the upper and lower limits for the specified amount of time or longer, it is judged that battery condition monitor module has failed and the DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 1.0 second or more
DTC Type Two drive cycles, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 VOLT CHARGING SYSTEM indicator off

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Elapsed time since the 12 volt battery voltage reaches to a specified value after the vehicle condition is turned to the ON mode 50 milliseconds -
12 volt battery voltage 7.7 V -

Malfunction Threshold

The battery current sensor ISOC signal voltage is 1.27 V or less, or 4.30 V or more for at least 1.0 second.

Possible Cause

NOTE:  The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the battery condition monitor module memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
