DTC P1586:  HV Battery Current Sensor

General Description

GHH375131Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

When the high voltage contactor is on, the inverter current and the battery pack current is monitored on the same line across the electric A/C compressor by the battery condition monitor module. Therefore, the estimated inverter current (estimate current is calculated by the battery condition monitor module from the motor phase current information) and the battery pack current values are compared and if the difference exceeds of a specified valued for a specified time, the battery condition monitor module detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 1 second or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 VOLT CHARGING SYSTEM indicator off

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Battery condition monitor module power-supply voltage 10.2 V -
Vehicle ON mode

Malfunction Threshold

The difference between the estimated MPI module current and the battery pack current is more than 94.76 A, or less than -36.33 A for at least 1 second.

Possible Cause

NOTE:  The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the battery condition monitor module memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command or the battery condition monitor module reset.
