DTC P0A80
DTC P0A80: Replace HV Battery Pack
General Description
The battery pack built in resistance for battery module identifications are used for the battery condition monitor module to monitor whether an appropriate battery module is connected. If the battery pack resistance voltage for battery module identifications are out of specified value for a set time, the battery condition monitor module detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 2.0 seconds or more |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL on, POWER SYSTEM indicator on, 12 VOLT CHARGING SYSTEM indicator on |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| 12 volt battery voltage | 8.0 V | - |
| Other | During initial start-up of the battery condition monitor module, after disconnecting the 12 volt battery | |
Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions is met:
- The resistance voltage is 4.98 V or more for at least 2.0 seconds.
- The resistance voltage is 0.03 V or less for at least 2.0 seconds.
- The average voltage of resistance voltage acquired for 19 times is 2.61 V or less, or 3.84 V or more.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Battery pack MODID1 line open
- Battery pack MODID1 line short to ground
- Battery pack MODID2 line open
- Battery pack MODID2 line short to ground
- Battery pack internal circuit failure
- Battery condition monitor module internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the battery condition monitor module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
