Wireless Charger System Description
Overview
Some models come equipped with the wireless charger. The wireless charger can charge the battery (like a smartphone) that is placed on top of the wireless charger, without a charging cable. This system uses the law of electromagnetic induction.
Basic Control
The wireless charger system begins to charge a battery of a wireless device (like a smartphone) as soon as it detects the device on the wireless charger. The charger receives the radio frequency signal from the audio unit via the B-CAN. Charging frequency is controlled so that it will not interfere with the receiving frequency of the radio. When a remote communicates to the body control module by LF communication, the charger momentarily stops charging so it will not interfere with the keyless access system.
The following conditions will stop battery charging:
- When the battery of the device becomes full.
- When an object is placed between the charger and the wireless device that prevents detection.
- When the wireless device is placed out of the charging area.
LED Indicator Function
As charging starts, the amber indicator turns on, and as charging stops, the green indicator turns on. When a failure occurs, the indicator(s) will flash.

Failsafe Function
Hardware Failsafe Control
When the CPU is reset due to a CPU program runaway or a drop in the 5 V supply voltage, it changes to failsafe.
Software Failsafe Control
When any of the data from the B-CAN circuit cannot be received within a specified time, or an unusual combination of the data is recognized, the wireless charger moves to the software failsafe. The data that cannot be received is forced to a pre-programmed value.
