- If DTC P055C, P2648, and/or P2649 are stored at the same time as DTC P2646, troubleshoot those DTCs first, then recheck for DTC P2646.

DTC (PGM-FI)
- Oil level check
-1. Check the engine oil level .
Is the level OK?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Enter the maintenance mode, then start the engine .
-4. Hold the engine speed at 3, 000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
-5. Select the VTEC TEST in the Function Test Menu with the HDS.
VTEC TEST
Is the result OK?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the rocker arm oil pressure sensor and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .
NO
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.
- DTC check
-1. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC P055C Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Sensor Low Voltage P2648 Rocker Arm Oil Control Solenoid Circuit Low Voltage Is DTC P055C and/or P2648 indicated?
YES
Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 4.
- VTEC system oil pressure check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Remove the rocker arm oil pressure sensor (A), and attach the special tools as shown, then attach the rocker arm oil pressure sensor to the oil pressure gauge adapter (B).
-3. Reconnect the following connector.
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector -4. Enter the maintenance mode, then start the engine .
-5. Hold the engine speed at 3, 000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
-6. Select the VTEC TEST in the Function Test Menu with the HDS.
VTEC TEST
Check the oil pressure while the status of VTEC solenoid valve on the HDS display is ON.
Is the oil pressure 49 kPa (0.50 kgf/cm 2, 7.1 psi) or more?
YES
Replace the rocker arm oil pressure sensor .
NO
Inspect the VTEC system oil passage. If it is OK, replace the rocker arm oil control valve .
