DTC P07B3

DTC P07B3  : Transmission Park Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the General Troubleshooting Information .

P07B3 Transmission Park Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low      

DTC (Gear)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for at least 10 seconds.

    -5. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P07B3 and P07B9 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

    P07B3 Transmission Park Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low  
    P07B9 Transmission Park Position Sensor/Switch B Circuit Low  

    Does the HDS indicate FAILED?

    DTC P07B3 and P07B9 indicate FAILED

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    Only DTC P07B3 indicates FAILED

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 5.

    DTC P07B3 and P07B9 indicate PASSED

    If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections and loose terminals between the park position sensor and the SBW shifter control module. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.

  2. Determine possible failure area (park position sensor, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Park position sensor 4P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      Park position sensor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Park position sensor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
    Test point 2 Park position sensor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 2:

    Is there about 5 V?

    YES 

    Replace the park position sensor .

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Open wire check (VCC/SBW_VCC line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    SBW shifter control module 20P connector

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Park position sensor 4P connector: disconnected
      SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Park position sensor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
    Test point 2 SBW shifter control module 20P connector No. 12

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The VCC/SBW_VCC wire is OK. Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the VCC/SBW_VCC wire between the park position sensor and the SBW shifter control module.

  4. Open wire check (GND/SBW SG line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Park position sensor 4P connector: disconnected
      SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Park position sensor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 2:
    Test point 2 SBW shifter control module 20P connector No. 2

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The GND/SBW SG wire is OK. Faulty SBW shifter control module. Replace the SBW shifter assembly .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the GND/SBW SG wire between the park position sensor and the SBW shifter control module.

  5. Shorted wire check (PSEN1/SBW PPOS1 line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Park position sensor 4P connector
    SBW shifter control module 20P connector

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Park position sensor 4P connector: disconnected
      SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Park position sensor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The PSEN1/SBW PPOS1 wire is not shorted. Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair a short to ground in the PSEN1/SBW PPOS1 wire between the park position sensor and the SBW shifter control module.

  6. Open wire check (PSEN1/SBW PPOS1 line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Park position sensor 4P connector: disconnected
      SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Park position sensor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 SBW shifter control module 20P connector No. 11

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The PSEN1/SBW PPOS1 wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the PSEN1/SBW PPOS1 wire between the park position sensor and the SBW shifter control module.

  7. Determine possible failure area (park position sensor, SBW shifter control module)

    -1. Reconnect all connectors.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test point 1 SBW shifter control module 20P connector No. 2
    Test point 2 SBW shifter control module 20P connector No. 11

    Is there 0.1 V or more?

    YES 

    Faulty SBW shifter control module. Replace the SBW shifter assembly .

    NO 

    Replace the park position sensor .
