Shift Solenoid Valve Removal, Installation, and Test: Test
NOTE: Check the connector for corrosion, dirt, or oil, and clean if necessary.
- Vehicle - Lift
- HDS - Connect
- Shift Solenoid Valve - HDS Function Test
1. From the system selection menu, select AT, Function Test and then Shift Solenoid Test. 2. Select Shift Solenoid Valve A or B, follow the screen prompts and check that the shift solenoid valve operates with the HDS. A clicking sound should be heard.
- Select Shift Solenoid Valve C, D and E are not supported on this vehicle.
- If a clicking sound is heard, the solenoid valve is OK. The test is complete, disconnect the HDS.
- If no clicking sound is heard, go to the next step, and check the shift solenoid valve resistance.

Shift Solenoid Valve A Shift Solenoid Valve B
1. Disconnect the connector (A). 2. Measure the resistance of the shift solenoid valve between connector (male terminals) terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
- If the resistance is out of the specifications (change for all occurrences), replace the appropriate shift solenoid valve.
- If the resistance is within the specifications (change for all occurrences), go to the next step, and check the shift solenoid valve operation.

Shift Solenoid Valve A Shift Solenoid Valve B
1. Connect a jumper wire from the positive 12 volt battery terminal to connector (male terminals) terminal No. 1, and connect another jumper wire from the negative 12 volt battery terminal to connector (male terminals) terminal No. 2. - If a clicking sound is heard, go to the next step.
- If no clicking sound is heard, replace the appropriate shift solenoid valve.
Shift Solenoid Valve A Shift Solenoid Valve B
2. Remove the appropriate shift solenoid valve. 3. Connect a tube (A) to the shift solenoid valve.
4. Connect a jumper wire from the positive 12 volt battery terminal to connector (male terminals) terminal No. 1, and connect another jumper wire from the negative 12 volt battery terminal to connector (male terminals) terminal No. 2. Blow the air into the tube.
- If the air goes out of the port (B), go to the next step.
- If the air does not go out of the port, replace the appropriate shift solenoid valve.
5. Disconnect the jumper wires. Blow the air into the tube.
- If the air goes out of the port, replace the appropriate shift solenoid valve.
- If the air does not go out of the port, repair the wire between the shift solenoid valve and the PCM.
- All Removed Parts - Install
1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
