Transfer Assembly Disassembly and Reassembly: Disassembly: Procedure

NOTE:
Numbered call-outs in figure pertain to list numbers in following procedure.

- Transfer Hypoid Drive Gear/Shaft Assembly - Remove
- Locknut - Remove
1. Using a chisel, cut the lock tab (A) of the locknut (B).
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the shaft.2. Secure the transfer hypoid drive gear/shaft assembly (A) in a bench vise (B) with hex wrench (C). 3. Remove the locknut.
- Transfer Driven Gear and Washer - Remove
1. Remove the transfer driven gear (A) and the washer (B) using a puller (C). - Stud Bolt - Remove
- Locknut - Remove
1. Using a chisel, cut the lock tab (A) of the locknut (B).
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the shaft.2. Secure the transfer housing (A) in a bench vise (B). NOTE: To prevent damaging, always use wood blocks (C) or equivalent materials between the transfer housing and the bench vise.
3. Set the companion holder on the companion flange, then loosen the locknut.
4. Remove the companion holder.
5. Remove the locknut.

- Back-Up Ring - Remove
- Companion Flange - Remove
- Transfer Hypoid Driven Gear - Remove
- Thrust Washer - Remove
- Transfer Spacer - Remove
- Transfer Oil Seal - Remove
