Parking and Back-Up Sensor System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Overview

The parking and back-up sensor system measures distances to objects by transmitting ultrasonic waves and receiving the echo from sound waves bouncing off nearby objects. It informs drivers of nearby objects with audible warning signals as well as visual signs through the multi-information display (MID) in the gauge control module.

Parking and Back-Up Sensor System Operation

The sensors send out ultrasonic waves, receive waves reflected by an obstacle, determine the distance, and use the buzzer and/or multi-information display (MID) to tell the driver that an obstacle is near.

Sound Pattern of the Parking and Back-Up Sensor Beeper

Intermittent/continuous alarm sounding is performed by obstacle detection indication requests and alarm sounding requests from the parking sensor system, according to the distance and the display of the obstacle detection location. A warning message is generated in case of a failure of the parking sensor system.
