Steering Rack End Removal and Installation: Removal

NOTE:
- Do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials to enter the steering gearbox.
- Refer to Steering Gearbox Disassembly and Reassembly as needed during this procedure.
- Steering Gearbox - Remove
- Tie-Rod End - Remove
- Rack End Boot - Remove
1. Remove the boot band (A). 2. Remove the tie-rod clip (B).
3. Pull the boot (C) away from the ends of the steering gearbox.
- Rack End - Remove
1. Hold the gearbox housing using a C-clamp (A) and wooden blocks (B) to a workbench as shown.
NOTE:- Be careful not to damage the mounting surface with a C-clamp.
- Do not clamp the cylinder part of the gearbox housing with a C-clamp.
2. Unscrew the rack end (A) with a wrench.
NOTE:- Hold the flat surfaces (B) with a wrench when unscrewing both rack ends.
- Be careful not to damage the rack surface.
3. Remove the rack end and the rubber stopper (C).
