Steering Gearbox Removal and Installation: Installation: Procedure

- EPS Harness - Install
- Heat Baffle - Install
1. Loosely install the heat baffle (A), then tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown. - Steering Gearbox - Install
1. Slide the steering gearbox (A) between the front subframe and the body from the driver's side. NOTE: Be careful not to damage the steering gearbox.
2. Install the steering gearbox until the steering gearbox is in position.

3. Loosely install the steering gearbox (A) and steering gearbox stiffeners (B) to the front subframe with new mounting bolts. 4. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque in the numbered sequence shown.
- Pinion Shaft Grommet - Install
1. Install the pinion shaft grommet (A).
NOTE:- Align the arrow mark (B) on the pinion shaft grommet with forward of the vehicle.
- Align the cutout portion (C) with the lug portion (D).
- Front Subframe - Lift Up
1. Set the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) on a transmission jack (A), line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, and tighten the bolts. 2. Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe (B).
3. Upper the front subframe.
4. Install the front subframe mounting bolts to the body
.
5. Install both sides of the front lower arm mounting bolt (A) to the body. Then tighten the bolt to the specified torque . - Front Subframe - Tighten
- Lower Torque Rod Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install
- Engine/Transmission Mount - Tightening Procedure
- Exhaust Pipe A - Install
- Front Lower Arm - Connect
1. Connect both sides of the front lower arm to the ball joints . - Stabilizer Link - Connect
1. Connect both sides of the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar . - Connectors (EPS Motor/Control Unit) - Connect
1. Connect the connectors (A). - Engine Undercover - Install
- Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect (Both Sides)
- Steering Joint - Connect
- Front Wheels - Install
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
- Wheel Alignment - Check
- Steering Gearbox After Install - Check
1. After installation, check these items: - With the front wheels straight ahead, make sure the steering wheel is centered and the turning revolutions from center to full lock (left and right) is equal. If not, check the installation of the steering wheel and the engagement of the joint/pinion shaft splines.
- With the tires raised off the ground, check for noise and abnormality by turning the steering wheel fully to the right and left several times.
- Check the power steering assist .
- Check that the EPS indicator does not come on.
- VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize
