DTC B1387

DTC B1387  : Power Tailgate sensor Pulse B circuit malfunction

NOTE: 

DTC Description DTC
B1387 Power Tailgate sensor Pulse B circuit malfunction  

DTC (Power Tailgate Control Unit)

  1. Problem verification 1

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -2. Open the tailgate with the tailgate outer handle switch.

    -3. Close the tailgate automatically with the keyless transmitter or power tailgate inside switch.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B1387 Power Tailgate sensor Pulse B circuit malfunction  

    Is DTC B1387 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

  2. Problem verification 2

    -1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B1386 Power Tailgate sensor Pulse A circuit malfunction  

    Is DTC B1386 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  3. Shorted wire check (PTG/PTL_SVCC line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P)

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF(LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P): disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P) (male terminals) No. 4:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    Replace the power tailgate control unit .

    NO 

    Repair a short to ground in the wire.

  4. Determine possible failure area (power tailgate sensor, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P): disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P) (male terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there about 5V?

    YES 

    Faulty power tailgate sensor; replace the power tailgate drive unit .

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  5. Shorted wire check (PTG/PTL_SENB line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P): disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P) (male terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair a short to ground in the wire.

  6. Open wire check (PTG/PTL_SENB line)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P)

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P): disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Power tailgate drive unit connector B (6P) (male terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P) No. 16

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the power tailgate control unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
