DTC B1385

DTC B1385  : Power Tailgate temperature sensor malfunction

NOTE:  If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A .

DTC Description DTC
B1385 Power Tailgate temperature sensor malfunction  

DTC (Power Tailgate Control Unit)

  1. Problem verification 1

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -2. Open the tailgate manually or with the keyless transmitter.

    -3. Close the tailgate with the keyless transmitter or driver's power tailgate switch.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B1385 Power Tailgate temperature sensor malfunction  

    Is DTC B1385 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

  2. Problem verification 2

    -1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
    B1378 Power Tailgate Right Touch/Pinch sensor circuit malfunction  
    B1379 Power Tailgate Left Touch/Pinch sensor circuit malfunction  
    B1385 Power Tailgate temperature sensor malfunction  

    Any of DTC are indicated at the same time with DTC B1385?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  3. Open wire check (PTG/PTL_SEG2 line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P)
    Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P): disconnected
    Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 8
    Test point 2 Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector (male terminals) No. 2:

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the power tailgate control unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

  4. Determine possible failure area (left power tailgate pinch sensor thermistor, others)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector (male terminals) No. 4:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Replace the left power tailgate pinch sensor .

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  5. Open wire check (PTG/PTL_THERMISTOR line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Left power tailgate pinch sensor 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 1
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

    NO 

    Replace the power tailgate control unit .
