DTC B1380  : Tailgate Closer Unit Neutral switch circuit malfunction

NOTE:  If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A .

DTC Description DTC
B1380 Tailgate Closer Unit Neutral switch circuit malfunction  

DTC (Power Tailgate Control Unit)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -2. Open the tailgate with the tailgate outer handle switch.

    -3. Close the tailgate manually.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B1380 Tailgate Closer Unit Neutral switch circuit malfunction  

    Is DTC B1380 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

  2. Determine possible failure area (PTG/PTL_CLCL line short, others)

    -1. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Latch Gear Position Sw. neutral    

    Is data list value ON?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  3. Determine possible failure area (power tailgate closer unit, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Latch Gear Position Sw. neutral    

    Is data list value ON?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Faulty sector switch; replace the tailgate latch .

  4. Shorted wire check (PTG/PTL_CLCL line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P)

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P): disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P) No. 10
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    Replace the power tailgate control unit .

    NO 

    Repair a short to ground in the wire.

  5. Determine possible failure area (power tailgate closer unit, others)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P)

    -3. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 2:
    Terminal B Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 3:

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Latch Gear Position Sw. neutral    

    Is data list value ON?

    YES 

    Faulty sector switch; replace the tailgate latch .

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Determine possible failure area (PTG/PTL_CLCL line, PTG/PTL_SEG3 line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the jumper wire.

    -3. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 3:
    Terminal B Body ground

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Latch Gear Position Sw. neutral    

    Is data list value ON?

    YES 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Go to step 8.

  7. Open wire check (PTG/PTL_SEG3 line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the jumper wire.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P)

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF(LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P): disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 2:
    Test point 2 Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P) No. 21

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the power tailgate control unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

  8. Open wire check (PTG/PTL_CLCL line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the jumper wire.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P)

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P): disconnected
       
    Test point 1 Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Power tailgate control unit connector A (24P) No. 10

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the power tailgate control unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
