DTC B1378 : Power Tailgate Right Touch/Pinch sensor circuit malfunction
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A .

DTC (Power Tailgate Control Unit)
- Problem verification 1
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Open the tailgate manually or with the keyless transmitter.
-3. Close the tailgate with the keyless transmitter or driver's power tailgate switch.
-4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B1378 Power Tailgate Right Touch/Pinch sensor circuit malfunction Is DTC B1378 indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Problem verification 2
-1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B1378 Power Tailgate Right Touch/Pinch sensor circuit malfunction B1379 Power Tailgate Left Touch/Pinch sensor circuit malfunction B1385 Power Tailgate temperature sensor malfunction Any of DTC are indicated at the same time with DTC B1378?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Open wire check (PTG/PTL_SEG2 line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P)
Right power tailgate pinch sensor 2P connector-3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P): disconnected
Right power tailgate pinch sensor 2P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 8 Test point 2 Right power tailgate pinch sensor 2P connector (male terminals) No. 2: Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
Replace the power tailgate control unit .
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- Determine possible failure area (right power tailgate pinch sensor, others)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Right power tailgate pinch sensor 2P connector -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode
Right power tailgate pinch sensor 2P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Right power tailgate pinch sensor 2P connector (male terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Replace the right power tailgate pinch sensor .
NO
Go to step 5.
- Open wire check (PTG/PTL_TSLA line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode
Right power tailgate pinch sensor 2P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Power tailgate control unit connector B (10P) No. 9 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
NO
