System Indicator

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

This system has four indicators:

NOTE:  For locations of each indicator, refer to gauge control module component location index .

When the system is OK, each indicator comes on for about 2 seconds after turning the vehicle to the ON mode, then goes off.

NOTE:  If the parking brake is applied, and/or the brake fluid level is low, the brake system indicator (red) will stay on.

When the system detects a problem, it turns on the brake system indicator (amber), and/or the brake system indicator (red). Depending on the failure, the electric servo brake control unit determines which indicators are turned on.

When the brake system indicator (amber) and the brake system indicator (red) comes on, the brakes get heavier and the pedal strokes get longer. Depressing the brake pedal further will cause kickbacks similar to what is felt during ABS activation, which are actually caused by the assist control from the hydraulic brake booster built inside the ABS/VSA modular.
