DTC (PGM-FI)
- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 10 seconds.
-5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the shutter grille and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .

-1. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

NO
Go to step 3.

YES
Go to step 10.
NO (Without auto idle stop system)
Go to step 23.
NO (With auto idle stop system)
Go to step 4.
- DTC check 3
-1. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC P16E5 LIN Communication Error (PCM-DC-DC Converter) Is DTC P16E5 indicated?
YES
Go to step 15.
NO
Go to step 20.
- Determine possible failure area (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line, others)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminal) No. 3: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 7.
NO
Go to step 6.
- Shorted wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line)
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
Continue to check for continuity between the shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector terminal and body ground, while disconnecting these connectors, one at a time:
- PCM connector A (50P)
- Alternator 1P connector
- 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector
- DC-DC converter connector A (3P) (With auto idle stop system)
Does continuity go away when one of the above connectors is disconnected?
YES
The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is OK. Replace the part that caused an open when it was disconnected.
NO
Repair a short in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the PCM (A10), the alternator, the 12 volt battery sensor, the DC-DC converter (with auto idle stop system), and the shutter grille.
- Determine possible failure area (shutter grille (upper), others)
-1. Reconnect the shutter grille (upper) 4P connector.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Alternator 1P connector -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Alternator 1P connector: disconnected Shutter grille (lower) 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Alternator 1P connector (female terminal) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 8.
NO
- Determine possible failure area (shutter grille (lower), others)
-1. Reconnect the shutter grille (lower) 4P connector.
-2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Alternator 1P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Alternator 1P connector (female terminal) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 9.
NO
- Open wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line) 1
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector PCM connector A (50P) -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector: disconnected Alternator 1P connector: disconnected PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminal) No. 3: Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 10 Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM .
NO
Repair an open in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the PCM (A10) and the shutter grille.
- Determine possible failure area (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line, others)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminal) No. 3: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 12.
NO
Go to step 11.
- Shorted wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line)
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
Continue to check for continuity between the shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector terminal and body ground, while disconnecting these connectors, one at a time:
- PCM connector A (50P)
- 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector
- Alternator 1P connector
- DC-DC converter connector A (3P) (with auto idle stop system)
Does continuity go away when one of the above connectors is disconnected?
YES
The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is OK. Replace the part that caused an open when it was disconnected.
NO
Repair a short in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the PCM (A10), the alternator, the 12 volt battery sensor, the DC-DC converter (with auto idle stop system), and the shutter grille.
- Determine possible failure area (shutter grille (upper), others)
-1. Reconnect the shutter grille (upper) 4P connector.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
12 volt battery sensor 2P connector -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector: disconnected Shutter grille (lower) 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 13.
NO
- Determine possible failure area (shutter grille (lower), others)
-1. Reconnect the shutter grille (lower) 4P connector.
-2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector: disconnected Test point 1 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 14.
NO
- Open wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line) 1
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector PCM connector A (50P) -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector: disconnected Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector: disconnected PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminal) No. 3: Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 10 Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM .
NO
Repair an open in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the PCM (A10) and the shutter grille.
- Determine possible failure area (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line, others)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminal) No. 3: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 17.
NO
Go to step 16.
- Shorted wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line)
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
Continue to check for continuity between the shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector terminal and body ground, while disconnecting these connectors, one at a time:
- PCM connector A (50P)
- 12 volt battery sensor 2P connector
- Alternator 1P connector
- DC-DC converter connector A (3P) (with auto idle stop system)
Does continuity go away when one of the above connectors is disconnected?
YES
The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is OK. Replace the part that caused an open when it was disconnected.
NO
Repair a short in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the PCM (A10), the alternator, the 12 volt battery sensor, the DC-DC converter (with auto idle stop system), and the shutter grille.
- Determine possible failure area (shutter grille (upper), others)
-1. Reconnect the shutter grille (upper) 4P connector.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
DC-DC converter connector A (3P) -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode DC-DC converter connector A (3P): disconnected Shutter grille 4P (lower) connector: disconnected Test point 1 DC-DC converter connector A (3P) (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 18.
NO
- Determine possible failure area (shutter grille (lower), others)
-1. Reconnect the shutter grille (lower) 4P connector.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
DC-DC converter connector A (3P) -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode DC-DC converter connector A (3P): disconnected Test point 1 DC-DC converter connector A (3P) (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
Go to step 19.
NO
- Open wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line) 1
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector PCM connector A (50P) -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode DC-DC converter connector A (3P): disconnected Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector: disconnected PCM connector A (50P): disconnected Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminal) No. 3: Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 10 Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM .
NO
Repair an open in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the PCM (A10) and the shutter grille.
- Fuse check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. G31 shutter grille (upper) *2 Fuse No. A23 shutter grille (upper) Fuse No. A22 shutter grille (lower) Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 21.
NO
- Check for a short in the VMP wire between the No. A23 fuse and the shutter grille (upper). Also replace the No. A23 fuse. *1
- Check for a short in the VMP wire between the No. G31 fuse and the shutter grille (upper). Also replace the No. G31 fuse. *2
- Check for a short in the +B FI ECU MAIN wire between the No. A23 fuse and the G31 fuse. Also replace the No. A23 fuse. *2
- Check for a short in the +B FR FOG/VMP wire between the No. A22 fuse and the shutter grille (lower). Also replace the No. A22 fuse.
- Determine possible failure area (LIN (BATT SENSOR) line, VMP line *1, +B FI ECU MAIN/VMP line *2, +B FR FOG/VMP line):
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Shutter grille (upper/lower) 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4: Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 23.
NO
Go to step 22.
- Open wire check (VMP line *1, +B FI ECU MAIN/VMP line *2, +B FR FOG/VMP line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

- Repair an open in the GND wire between the shutter grille (upper) and G351.
- Repair an open in the GND wire between the shutter grille (lower) and G251.
NO
- Repair an open in the VMP wire between the shutter grille (upper) and the No. A23 fuse *1.
- Repair an open in the VMP wire between the shutter grille (upper) and the No. G31 fuse. *2
- Repair an open in the +B FI ECU MAIN wire between the G31 fuse and the No. A23 fuse. *2
- Repair an open in the +B FR FOG/VMP wire between the shutter grille (lower) and the No. A22 fuse.

- Open wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line) 2
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
PCM connector A (50P) -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is OK. Replace the shutter grille .
