DTC P101A (1.5 L Engine)

DTC P101A  : VTC B Advance Malfunction

NOTE: 

• Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .
• If DTC P0366 is stored at the same time as DTC P101A, troubleshoot DTC P101A first, then recheck for DTC P0366.
• If DTC P101A set after replacing the VTC actuator, verify that the correct timing marks on the crank pulley were used.

DTC (PGM-FI)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -4. Start the engine.

   -5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

   DTC Description	Confirmed DTC	Pending DTC
   P101A VTC B Advance Malfunction

   Is DTC P101A indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .

2. VTC oil control solenoid valve B operation check

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -2. Test VTC oil control solenoid valve B .

   Is the solenoid valve OK?

   YES 

   Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Replace VTC oil control solenoid valve B .

3. VTC actuator B check

   -1. Inspect VTC actuator B .

   Is the actuator OK?

   YES 

   Check the VTC system oil passages and clean them if needed.

   NO 

   Replace VTC actuator B .
