DTC P1009 (1.5 L Engine)
DTC P1009 : VTC A Advance Malfunction
NOTE:
- Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .
- If DTC P0341 is stored at the same time as DTC P1009, troubleshoot DTC P1009 first, then recheck for DTC P0341.
- If DTC P1009 set after replacing the VTC actuator, verify that the correct timing marks on the crank pulley were used.

DTC (PGM-FI)
- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-4. Start the engine.
-5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC P1009 VTC A Advance Malfunction Is DTC P1009 indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .
- VTC oil control solenoid valve A operation check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Test VTC oil control solenoid valve A .
Is the solenoid valve OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
- VTC actuator A check
-1. Inspect VTC actuator A .
Is the actuator OK?
YES
Check the VTC system oil passages and clean them if needed.
NO
