DTC P05AE, P05B2, P05B7, P05C1 (2.4 L Engine) (2017 2018 2019)

DTC P05AE  : Shutter Grille Assembly (Lower) Malfunction DTC P05B2  : Shutter Grille Actuator (Lower) Malfunction DTC P05B7  : Shutter Grille Actuator (Lower) Malfunction DTC P05C1  : Shutter Grille Actuator (Lower) Temperature Malfunction

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

DTC (PGM-FI)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -4. Start the engine, then let it idle.

   -5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

   P05B2 Shutter Grille Actuator (Lower) Malfunction
   P05B7 Shutter Grille Actuator (Lower) Malfunction
   P05C1 Shutter Grille Actuator (Lower) Temperature Malfunction

   Is DTC P05AE, P05B2, P05B7, or P05C1 is indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the shutter grille (lower) and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .

2. Shutter grille condition check

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -2. Check for condition (damage, fixation, foreign material, etc.) at shutter grille.

   Is the shutter grille OK?

   YES 

   Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Reassembly or repair the shutter grille, if needed.

3. Shorted wire check (+B FR FOG line)

   -1. Check the following fuse.

   Fuse	No. A22 (15 A)
   Location	Under-hood fuse/relay box

   Is the fuse OK?

   YES 

   Go to step 4.

   NO 

   Repair a short in the +B FR FOG wire between shutter grille (lower) and the No. A22 (15 A) fuse. Also replace the No. A22 (15 A) fuse.

4. Open wire check (+B FR FOG line)

   -1. Disconnect the following connector.

   Shutter grille (lower) 4P connector

   -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Shutter grille (lower) 4P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Shutter grille (lower) 4P connector (female terminals) No. 1:

   Test point 2

   Body ground

   Is there battery voltage?

   YES 

   Go to step 5.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the +B FR FOG wire between the shutter grille (lower) and the No. A22 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.

5. Open wire check (GND line)

   -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Shutter grille (lower) 4P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Shutter grille (lower) 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4:
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   Replace the shutter grille (lower) .

   NO 

   Repair an open in the GND wire between the shutter grille (lower) and G251.
