DTC P05A0 (1.5 L Engine)

DTC P05A0  : Shutter Grille Assembly (Upper) Malfunction

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

P05A0 Shutter Grille Assembly (Upper) Malfunction    

DTC (PGM-FI)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -4. Start the engine, then let it idle.

    -5. Check the parameter (s) below with the HDS.

    Do the current condition (s) match the threshold?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the shutter grille (upper) and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. Shutter grille condition check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Inspect the upper shutter grille for any damage or foreign materials caught in the shutter assembly.

    Is the shutter grille OK?

    YES (Without wireless charger)

    Go to step 3.

    YES (With wireless charger)

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Remove the foreign material or replace the shutter grille (upper) .

  3. Shorted wire check (VMP line)

    -1. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. A23

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair a short in the VMP wire between shutter grille (upper) and the No. A23 fuse. Also replace the No. A23 fuse.

  4. Shorted wire check (VMP line)

    -1. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. G31

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Repair a short in the VMP wire between shutter grille (upper) and the No. G31 fuse. Also replace the No. G31 fuse.

  5. Shorted wire check (+B FI ECU MAIN line)

    -1. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. A23

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair a short in the +B FI ECU MAIN wire between the A23 fuse and the No. G31 fuse. Also replace the No. A23 fuse.

  6. Open wire check (VMP line)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Shutter grille (upper) 4P connector

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Shutter grille (upper) 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper) 4P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the VMP wire between the shutter grille (upper) and the No. A23 fuse (with wireless charger: No. G31 fuse ).

  7. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Shutter grille (upper) 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Shutter grille (upper) 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the shutter grille (upper) .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the GND wire between the shutter grille (upper) and G351.
