VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve Removal, Installation, and Test (2.4 L Engine) (2017 2018 2019): Test

  1. VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve - Test

    1. Check for any blockage in the ports of the VTC oil control solenoid valve.

    2. Connect VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (male terminals) No. 1 to the 12 volt battery positive terminal with a jumper wire:

    Connect VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (male terminals) No. 2 to the 12 volt battery negative terminal with a jumper wire:

    3. Measure the clearance of the valve (A). The clearance should be at least 1.2 mm (0.047 in).
    • If the clearance is as specified, the valve is OK; reinstall it with a new O-ring (B).
    • If the clearance is not as specified, install a new valve and O-ring.
