EVAP System Removal, Installation, and Test (1.5 L Engine (KA/KC)): Inspection

NOTE: Refer to the Fuel and Emissions Systems Service Precautions before disconnecting the fuel line.
Non-Return Valve Inspection
- EVAP Canister Purge Valve Hose - Disconnect
1. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve hoses (A). - HDS - Connect
- Non-return Valve - Inspection
Non-Return Valve A (Intake Manifold Side) Non-Return Valve B (Turbocharger Side)
1. Select the PGM-FI system with the HDS. 2. Select the INSPECTION MENU, then select EVAP TEST (ELCM), and follow the screen prompts.
3. Select the Single Solenoid Test, then select PCS ON, and follow the screen prompts.
4. Connect the vacuum pump (A) to the EVAP canister purge valve (B) as shown.
5. Apply vacuum to the valve.
- If it holds vacuum, replace the EVAP canister purge valve.
- If it doesn't hold the vacuum, go to next step.
Non-Return Valve A (Intake Manifold Side) Non-Return Valve B (Turbocharger Side)
6. Connect the vacuum pump (A) to the EVAP canister purge valve (B) as shown. 7. Apply pressure to the valve.
- If it holds pressure, the EVAP canister purge valve is OK.
- If it doesn't hold the pressure, replace the EVAP canister purge valve.
