Valve, Spring, and Valve Seal Removal and Installation (1.5 L Engine): Removal

WARNING: 

Please carefully read "Precaution for Handling Sodium-Filled Valves" and follow the instructions as the exhaust valves contain metal sodium .

NOTE:  Identify the valves and the valve springs as they are removed so that each item can be reinstalled in its original position.

1. Cylinder Head - Remove
2. Valve and Valve Spring - Remove

   1. Using an appropriate-sized socket (A) and a plastic mallet (B), lightly tap the spring retainer to loosen the valve cotters.

   2. Install the valve spring compressor attachment and the valve spring compressor. 3. Compress the valve spring and remove the valve cotters. 4. Remove the valve spring compressor and the valve spring compressor attachment. 5. Remove the spring retainer, the valve spring, and the valve.

3. Valve Seal - Remove

   1. Install the valve guide seal remover (A).

   2. Remove the valve seal.
