Engine Removal and Installation (2.4 L Engine) (2017 2018 2019): Installation

NOTE: How to read the torque specifications .

  1. Lower Torque Rod Bracket - Install 
  2. Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install

  3. Engine/Transmission Assembly - Position
    1. Position the engine/transmission assembly under the vehicle, and be sure that they are properly positioned. Carefully lower the vehicle, and stop with the installation position of the engine/transmission assembly.
  4. Chain Hoist - Install

    1. Attach the chain hoist (A) to the universal lifting eyelet and the transmission hanger (B), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

  5. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Loosely Install

  6. Engine - Support
    1. Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.
  7. Chain Hoist and Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove
  8. Side Engine Mount - Loosely Install
  9. Upper Torque Rod - Loosely Install 
  10. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Raise the vehicle.
  11. Front Subframe - Support

    1. Set the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) on a transmission jack (A), line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, and tighten the bolts.

    2. Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe (B).

  12. Front Subframe - Install
  13. Front Lower Arm Mounting Bolt - Install

    1. Install both sides of the front lower arm mounting bolt to the body .
  14. Lower Torque Rod - Loosely Install 
  15. All Engine Mount Mounting Bolt and Nut - Tighten
  16. Transfer Assembly - Install (AWD)
  17. Propeller Shaft - Install (AWD)
  18. Front Driveshaft - Install
  19. Lower Arm Ball Joint - Connect
  20. Front Stabilizer Link Ball Joint - Connect
  21. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect
  22. Exhaust Pipe A - Install
  23. Connectors (EPS Subharness) - Connect
  24. A/C Compressor - Install
  25. Radiator Assembly - Install
  26. Drive Belt - Install
  27. Engine Undercover - Install
  28. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Lower the vehicle.
  29. Steering Joint - Connect
  30. EVAP Canister Purge Hose and Heater Hose - Connect

    1. Connect the EVAP canister purge hose (A).

    2. Connect the heater hoses (B).

  31. Fuel Feed Hose - Connect
  32. Shift Cable (Transmission Side) - Connect
  33. Connector (Engine Wire Harness) and Positive Cable (Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box) - Connect

    1. Install the harness holder (A).

    2. Connect the connectors (B).

    3. Install the positive cables (C).

  34. PCM - Install 
  35. Air Cleaner - Install
  36. 12 Volt Battery Base - Install
  37. 12 Volt Battery - Install
  38. Front Bulkhead Cover - Install
  39. Transmission Fluid - Refill
  40. Engine Oil - Refill
  41. Engine Coolant - Refill
  42. Fuel Leak (Low Pressure Side) - Check
    1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not start the engine. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel line will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three time, then check for fuel leakage.
  43. Fuel Leak (High Pressure Side) - Check
  44. Fluid Leak - Check
  45. Front Wheel - Install
  46. PCM - Reset
  47. CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn
  48. PCM Idle - Learn
  49. Idle Speed - Inspect
  50. Ignition Timing - Inspect
  51. Wheel Alignment - Check
  52. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize
