Engine Removal and Installation (1.5 L Engine): Installation

NOTE:  How to read the torque specifications.

1. Lower Torque Rod Bracket - Install 
2. Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install

3. Engine/Transmission Assembly - Position

   1. Position the engine/transmission assembly under the vehicle, and be sure that they are properly positioned. Carefully lower the vehicle, and stop with the installation position of the engine/transmission assembly.

4. Chain Hoist - Install

   1. Attach a chain hoist (A) to the universal lifting eyelet and the transmission hanger (B), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

5. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Loosely Install

6. Engine - Support

   1. Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.

7. Chain Hoist and Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove
8. Side Engine Mount - Loosely Install
9. Upper Torque Rod - Loosely Install 
10. Vehicle - Lift

    1. Raise the vehicle.

11. Front Subframe - Support

    1. Set the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) on a transmission jack (A), line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, and tighten the bolts. 2. Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe (B).

12. Front Subframe - Install
13. Front Lower Arm Mounting Bolt - Install

    1. Install both sides of the front lower arm mounting bolt to the body .

14. Lower Torque Rod - Loosely Install 
15. All Engine Mount Mounting Bolt and Nut - Tighten
16. Transfer Assembly - Install (AWD)
17. Propeller Shaft - Install (AWD)
18. Front Driveshaft - Install
19. Lower Arm Ball Joint - Connect
20. Front Stabilizer Link Ball Joint - Connect
21. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect
22. Exhaust Pipe A - Install
23. Connector (EPS Subharness) - Connect
24. A/C Compressor - Install
25. Radiator Assembly - Install
26. Drive Belt - Install
27. Engine Undercover - Install
28. Vehicle - Lift

    1. Lower the vehicle.

29. Steering Joint - Connect
30. Water Bypass Hose, Heater Hose, Intercooler Inlet Hose, and EVAP Canister Purge Hose - Connect

    1. Connect the water bypass hose (A), the heater hoses (B), the EVAP canister purge hose (C), and the intercooler inlet hose (D).

    NOTE: Make sure the end of hose band is aligned with the mark on the hose band after the intercooler inlet hose is installed.

31. Expansion Tank - Install
32. Fuel Feed Hose - Connect
33. Shift Cable (Transmission Side) - Connect
34. Throttle Body Inlet Pipe - Install
35. Connector (Engine Wire Harness) and Positive Cable (Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box) - Connect

    1. Install the harness clamp (A).

    2. Install the harness holder (B).

    3. Install the harness clips (C).

    4. Connect the connectors (D).

    5. Install the cables (E).

37. 12 Volt Battery Base - Install
38. 12 Volt Battery - Install
39. Front Bulkhead Cover - Install
40. Transmission Fluid - Refill
41. Engine Oil - Refill
42. Engine Coolant - Refill
43. Fuel Leak (Low Pressure Side) - Check

    1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not start the engine. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel line will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three time, then check for fuel leakage.

44. Fuel Leak (High Pressure Side) - Check
45. Fluid Leak - Check
46. Front Wheel - Install
47. PCM - Reset
48. CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn
49. PCM Idle - Learn
50. Idle Speed - Inspect
51. Ignition Timing - Inspect
52. Wheel Alignment - Check
53. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize
