Rear Brake Pad Removal, Installation, and Inspection: Installation

NOTE: 

• How to read the torque specifications .
• Review the Service Precautions before doing repairs or service .

1. Brake Caliper Piston - Return (Without Using the HDS)

   1. Install the brake caliper piston compressor tool (A) on the caliper body (B). 2. Press in the piston with the brake caliper piston compressor tool. 3. Remove the brake caliper piston compressor tool.

2. Brake Pad - Install

   1. Apply a thin coat of M-77 assembly paste (P/N 08798-9010) to the retainer mating surface of the caliper bracket (indicated by the arrows). NOTE:  Do not apply the assembly paste to area of unless otherwise specified. 2. Install the pad retainers (A). The upper and lower pad retainers are different. During installation, make sure the pad retainers are in the proper positions. If you are replacing the brake pads with new ones, also replace the pad retainers. If the brake pads do not need to be replaced with new ones, check the retainer. If the retainer is not normal, replace it with a new one. 3. Wipe off the excess assembly paste from the retainers. Keep the assembly paste away from the brake disc and the brake pads. 4. Install the brake pads (B) and pad shims (C) correctly with the indicator (D) on the bottom inside position. NOTE:  If you are reusing the brake pads, always reinstall the brake pads in their original positions to prevent a temporary loss of braking efficiency. Be careful not to damage or deform the pad return springs (E). If the pad return springs is damaged or deformed, replace the brake pad as an assembly. The upper and lower pad return springs are different. During installation, make sure the pad return springs are in the proper positions.

   5. Install the caliper body (A). 6. Connect the connector (B).

   7. Install the brake hose mounting bolt (A).

3. Brake Caliper Piston - Finish the MAINTENANCE MODE

   NOTE:  If the HDS was not used, install the electric parking brake actuator . 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode. 2. Select ADJUSTMENT from ABS/VSA menu with the HDS, then enter BACK TO NORMAL MODE from BRAKE PAD MAINTENANCE MODE, and follow the screen prompts. Make sure THIS FUNCTION PROCEDURE IS FINISHED on the screen, then press the enter button. 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

4. Rear Wheels - Install
5. Brake Fluid - Refill

   1. Add brake fluid as needed.
