USB charger does not work
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle 12 volt battery condition first .
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Check the fuses and relays associated with the system, and check for a short in the related lines.
- Problem verification
-1. Connect a known-good USB device to the USB port(s) of the USB charger unit.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
Can the connection be checked (battery charging status) on the device?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Inspect the connectors of the USB device and USB port for wear.
NO
The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
- Open wire check (+B USB CHARGER/+B BACK UP line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
USB charger unit 3P connector -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode USB charger unit 3P connector: disconnected Test point 1 USB charger unit 3P connector No. 2 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B USB CHARGER/+B BACK UP wire is OK. Go to step 3.
NO
Repair an open in the wire.
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode USB charger unit 3P connector: disconnected Test point 1 USB charger unit 3P connector No. 3 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G402).
- Open wire check (ACC line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode USB charger unit 3P connector: disconnected Test point 1 USB charger unit 3P connector No. 1 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The ACC wire is OK. Replace the USB charger unit .
NO
Repair an open in the wire.
