The BSI alert indicator comes on when no other vehicle is in the detectable area (Wrong indication)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

-2. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

DTC (BSI)

Are any DTCs indicated?

YES 

Go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting .

NO 

Go to step 2.

-1. Check the BSI system is ON status, and make sure the BSI system customizing operation.

Is the BSI system ON?

YES 

Go to step 3.

NO 

Cancel the OFF status by operating the BSI customization.

Interview the customer about when the symptom occurred to determine if an inspection is needed.

NOTE:  The BSI system cannot work properly in the following driving situations:

• In rainy, snowy, or foggy weather.
• When receiving a jamming signal from outside.
• When followed by other vehicles at a curve in a road.
• When another vehicle is getting close to yours when turning right or left.
• When the rear bumper is deformed.
• When the sensor is out of place.
• In places where there is a guardrail, pole, or tree.
• When an area of bumper around the installed sensor is soiled.

Is an inspection required?

YES 

Go to step 4.

NO 

Explain to the customer that the system sometimes cannot detect under certain driving conditions.

-1. Make sure that the rear bumper is correctly installed, and check the rear bumper for alteration or deformation.

NOTE:  Do not make any bumper repairs in the areas over or near the two radar units on vehicles equipped with the Blind Spot Information (BSI) System. The composition of the repair materials, and/or increased material thickness in the repaired area, may interfere with BSI radar unit operation.

Is the rear bumper OK?

YES 

Go to step 5.

NO 

If the rear bumper is incorrectly installed, reinstall it correctly. If it is damaged or deformed, replace it. If it is modified, explain to the customer that modifying rear bumper may lead to improper BSI system operation.

-1. Remove the rear bumper .

-2. Check the inside and outside of the rear bumper for dirt, contaminants, or stickers. Also, check the BSI radar unit surface for dirt or contaminants.

Is the BSI radar unit OK?

YES 

Go to step 6.

NO 

Completely wipe off any dirt or contaminants from the BSI radar unit surface or rear bumper.

-1. Check the body surface where the BSI radar unit is mounted for deformation.

Is the body surface OK?

YES 

Replace the appropriate BSI radar unit .

NO 

Go to the BSI radar unit mounting area check .
