DTC U0038 (A/T)

DTC U0038  : F-CAN D Malfunction (Bus-Off)

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the General Troubleshooting Information .

DTC (A/T)

1. DTC check

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for several seconds.

   -5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

   U0038 F-CAN D Malfunction (Bus-Off)
   U0115 F-CAN D Malfunction (TCM - PCM)
   U0291 F-CAN D Malfunction (TCM - SBW Shifter Control Module)

   Are any DTCs indicated along with DTC U0038?

   YES 

   Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

   NO 

   There are no DTCs along with DTC U0038. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good TCM , then recheck. If this DTC goes away and the TCM was substituted, replace the original TCM .
