DTC: C1640-14, C1641-14, C1642-14, C1643-14

DTC C1640-14  : Left Front Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure DTC C1641-14  : Right Front Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure DTC C1642-14  : Left Rear Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure DTC C1643-14  : Right Rear Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

DTC (Adaptive Damper System)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then to the ON mode.

   -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   C1640-14 Left Front Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure
   C1641-14 Right Front Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure
   C1642-14 Left Rear Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure
   C1643-14 Right Rear Damper Solenoid Circuit Open Failure

   Is DTC C1640-14, C1641-14, C1642-14, or C1643-14 indicated?

   YES 

   The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting .

2. Open wire check (ADS COIL OUT lines)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

   Adaptive damper control unit 24P connector

   Appropriate damper actuator 2P connector

   -3. Check for continuity between the adaptive damper control unit 24P connector terminals and appropriate damper actuator 2P connector terminals individually (see table).

   Is there continuity?

   1. YES 

      Replace the appropriate damper unit.

      • Front
      • Rear

      NO 

      Repair an open in the wire between the adaptive damper control unit and the appropriate damper actuator.
