F-CAN Circuit Troubleshooting (Without ACC)

F-CAN Circuit Troubleshooting 

NOTE:  Before disconnecting the SRS unit connector and the electric brake booster connectors, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and wait for at least 3 minutes.

  1. F-CAN circuit resistance check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCM connector A (50P)

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    F-CAN A circuit 

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    F-CAN B circuit 

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 38
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 39

    -5. Compare the results in step 1-4 with the following table.

      F-CAN A circuit F-CAN B circuit
    Pattern 1 80-102 ohms 106-130 ohms
    Pattern 2 Less than 80 ohms orMore than 102 ohms 106-130 ohms
    Pattern 3 80-102 ohms Less than 106 ohms orMore than 130 ohms

    Which pattern do the results match?

    Pattern 1

    Go to step 28.

    Pattern 2

    Go to step 2.

    Pattern 3

    Go to step 3.

    Pattern 4

    Go to step 2.

  2. Shorted wire check (F-CAN A_H line to F-CAN A_L line):

    NOTE: 

    • Before disconnecting the electric brake booster connector, turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode with the driver's door open, and wait for at least 3 minutes (do not close the door).
    • Before disconnecting the SRS unit connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and wait for at least 3 minutes.

    Disconnect the following connectors.

    • TCM 50P connector
    • VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector
    • Electric brake booster 26P connector
    • EPS control unit connector B (6P)
    • SRS unit connector A (43P)
    • Gauge control module connector A (32P)
    • Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector
    • Body control module connector A (66P)
    • Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio)

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN A_H wire to the F-CAN A_L wire between PCM terminals A36 and A37.

    NO (Pattern 2)

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are not shorted. Go to step 4.

    NO (Pattern 4)

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are not shorted. Go to step 3.

  3. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line to F-CAN B_L line):

    NOTE: 

    • Before disconnecting the electric brake booster connector, turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode with the driver's door open, and wait for at least 3 minutes.
    • Before disconnecting the SRS unit connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and wait for at least 3 minutes.

    If not already done, disconnect the following connectors.

    • VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector
    • Electric brake booster 26P connector

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected (if already done)
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected (if already done)
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected (if already done)
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected (if already done)
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected (if already done)
    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 38
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 39

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire to the F-CAN B_L wire between PCM terminals A38 and A39.

    NO (Pattern 3)

    The F-CAN B_H wire and the F-CAN B_L wire are not shorted. Go to step 22.

    NO (Pattern 4)

    The F-CAN B_H wire and the F-CAN B_L wire are not shorted. Go to step 4.

  4. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 1

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 TCM 50P connector No. 3
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the TCM.

  5. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 20
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the VSA modulator-control unit.

  6. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 3

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Electric brake booster 26P connector No. 26
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the electric brake booster.

  7. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 4

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 EPS control unit connector B (6P) No. 4
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the EPS control unit.

  8. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 5

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (43P) No. 16
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 9.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the SRS unit.

  9. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 6

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 20
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 10.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the gauge control module.

  10. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 7

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector No. 4
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 11.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the active noise cancellation unit.

  11. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 8

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Body control module connector A (66P) No. 64
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES (with display audio)

    Go to step 12.

    YES (with color audio)

    Go to step 13.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the body control module.

  12. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line) 9

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector E (36P) No. 29
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN A_H wire is not open. Go to step 13.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the audio unit.

  13. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 1

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 TCM 50P connector No. 11
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 14.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the TCM.

  14. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 21
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 15.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the VSA modulator-control unit.

  15. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 3

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Electric brake booster 26P connector No. 18
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 16.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the electric brake booster.

  16. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 4

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 EPS control unit connector B (6P) No. 1

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 17.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the EPS control unit.

  17. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 5

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (43P) No. 17
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 18.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the SRS unit.

  18. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 6

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 21
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 19.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the gauge control module.

  19. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 7

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector No. 5
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 20.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the active noise cancellation unit.

  20. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 8

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Body control module connector A (66P) No. 63
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES (with display audio)

    Go to step 21.

    YES (with color audio)

    The F-CAN A_L wire is not open. Go to step 22.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the body control module.

  21. Open wire check (F-CAN A_L line) 9

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector E (36P) No. 30
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36

    Is there continuity?

    YES (Pattern 2)

    The F-CAN A_L wire is not open. Go to step 26.

    YES (Pattern 4)

    The F-CAN A_L wire is not open. Go to step 22.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the audio unit.

  22. Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line) 1

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected (if already done)
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected (if already done)
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected (if already done)
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected (if already done)
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected (if already done)
    Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 24
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 39

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 23.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire between the PCM (A39) and the VSA modulator-control unit.

  23. Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected (if already done)
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected (if already done)
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected (if already done)
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected (if already done)
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected (if already done)
    Test point 1 Electric brake booster 26P connector No. 19
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 39

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN B_H wire is not open. Go to step 24.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire between the PCM (A39) and the electric brake booster.

  24. Open wire check (F-CAN B_L line) 1

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      TCM 50P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
      EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected (if already done)
      SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected (if already done)
      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected (if already done)
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected (if already done)
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected (if already done)
    Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector No. 25
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 38

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 25.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_L wire between the PCM (A38) and the VSA modulator-control unit.

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected (if already done)
      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected (if already done)
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected (if already done)
      Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected (if already done)
    Test point 1 Electric brake booster 26P connector No. 12
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 38

    Is there continuity?

    YES (Pattern 3)

    The F-CAN B_L wire is not open. Go to step 27.

    YES (Pattern 4)

    The F-CAN B_L wire is not open. Go to step 26.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_L wire between the PCM (A38) and the electric brake booster.

  26. VSA modulator-control unit internal resistance check 1

    -1. Reconnect the following connector.

    VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    TCM 40P connector: disconnected
    Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
    EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected

    Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
    Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected
    Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio): disconnected
    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 36
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 37

    Is there about 108-132 ohms?

    YES (Pattern 2)

    The VSA modulator-control unit is OK. Go to step 28.

    YES (Pattern 4)

    The F-CAN A lines of the VSA modulator-control unit is OK, go to step 27.

    NO 

    Replace the VSA modulator-control unit .

  27. VSA modulator-control unit internal resistance check 2

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected
    EPS control unit connector B (6P): disconnected (if already done)

    Is there about 108-132 ohms?

    YES 

    The VSA modulator-control unit is OK. Disconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector, then go to step 28.

    NO 

    Replace the VSA modulator-control unit .

  28. Shorted wire check (F-CAN A_H line):

    NOTE: 

    • Before disconnecting the electric brake booster connector, turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode with the driver's door open, and wait for at least 3 minutes.
    • Before disconnecting the SRS unit connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and wait for at least 3 minutes.

    Disconnect the following connectors.

    • TCM 50P connector
    • VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector
    • Electric brake booster 26P connector
    • EPS control unit connector B (6P)
    • SRS unit connector A (43P)
    • Gauge control module connector A (32P)
    • Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector
    • Body control module connector A (66P)
    • Audio unit connector E (36P) (with display audio)

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN A_H wire between the PCM (A37) and the TCM, the VSA modulator-control unit, the electric brake booster, the EPS control unit, the gauge control module, the SRS unit, the active noise cancellation unit, the body control module, the audio unit, or the DLC.

    NO 

    The F-CAN A_H wire is OK. Go to step 29.

  29. Shorted wire check (F-CAN A_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A36) and the TCM, the VSA modulator-control unit, the electric brake booster, the EPS control unit, the gauge control module, the SRS unit, the active noise cancellation unit, the body control module, the audio unit, or the DLC.

    NO 

    The F-CAN A_L wire is OK. Go to step 30.

  30. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire between the PCM (A39) and the VSA modulator-control unit or the electric brake booster.

    NO 

    The F-CAN B_H wire is OK. Go to step 31.

  31. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      TCM 50P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected
      Electric brake booster 26P connector: disconnected

      Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector: disconnected
      Body control module connector A (66P): disconnected

    Test point 1 PCM connector A (50P) No. 38
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_L wire between the PCM (A38) and the VSA modulator-control unit or the electric brake booster.

    NO 

    The F-CAN B_L wire is OK. Go to step 32.

  32. TCM check

    -1. Reconnect all connectors.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    TCM 50P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the TCM.

    NO 

    Reconnect the TCM 50P connector with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 33.

  33. VSA modulator-control unit check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the VSA modulator-control unit .

    NO 

    Reconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 34.

  34. Electric brake booster check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode with the driver's door open.

    -2. Wait for at least 3 minute.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Electric brake booster 26P connector

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the electric brake booster .

    NO 

    Reconnect the electric brake booster 26P connector with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 35.

  35. EPS control unit check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    EPS control unit connector B (6P)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the steering gearbox .

    NO 

    Reconnect EPS control unit connector B (6P) with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 36.

  36. Gauge control module check

    -1. Connect the HDS to the DLC.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Gauge control module connector A (32P)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the gauge control module .

    NO 

    Reconnect gauge control module connector A (32P) with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 37.

  37. Active noise cancellation unit check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Active noise cancellation unit 20P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the active noise cancellation unit .

    NO (with display audio)

    Reconnect the active noise cancellation unit 20P connector with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 38.

    NO (With color audio)

    Reconnect the active noise cancellation unit 20P connector with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 39.

  38. Audio unit check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio unit connector E (36P)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    Reconnect audio unit connector E (36P) with vehicle in OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 39.

  39. SRS unit check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and wait for at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector A (43P)

    -4. Do the 12 volt battery terminal reconnection procedure .

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and read the HDS.

    Does the HDS identify the vehicle?

    YES 

    Replace the SRS unit .

    NO
