DTC C1131-12  : Electric Parking Brake Indicator Circuit Short (ECU Internal Circuit Malfunction)

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

DTC Description DTC
C1131-12 Electric Parking Brake Indicator Circuit Short (ECU Internal Circuit Malfunction)  

DTC (Electric parking brake)

  1. DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then to the ON mode.

    -4. Apply the parking brake, then release the parking brake using the electric parking brake switch.

    -5. Wait for 20 seconds or more.

    -6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    C1120-96 Electric Parking Brake Switch Malfunction  
    C1131-12 Electric Parking Brake Indicator Circuit Short (ECU Internal Circuit Malfunction)  

    Is DTC C1131-12 indicated?

    YES 

    If only DTC C1131-12 is indicated, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good electric parking brake control unit , then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good electric parking brake control unit, replace the original electric parking brake control unit .

    YES 

    If DTC C1120-14  or C1120-96  are also indicated, go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting .
