Roof Opening Panel Frame: Removal

  1. 1.

    Remove the roof opening panel glass. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Glass  - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

  1. 2.

    NOTE: Marking the trim panel retaining clips is not necessary if installing a new frame (new trim panel retaining clips come installed on the new frame). If installing original frame, inspect and replace the trim panel retaining clips as necessary.

    Remove all 3 panoramic roof opening trim panels. REFER to: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel Trim  - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

  1. 3.

    Remove the seals.

  1. 4.

    Remove the rear window glass. REFER to: Fixed Glass .

  1. 5.

    Remove the roof opening panel shield. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Shield  - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

  1. 6.

    Remove the roof opening panel motors. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Motor  - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

  1. 7.

    Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the RTM.

  1. 8.

    Remove the retainer and the RTM mounting bracket.

  1. 9.

    Remove the air deflector. REFER to: Air Deflector  - Vehicles With: Panoramic Roof Opening Panel.

  1. 10.

    On both sides, remove the side curtain airbag. REFER to: Side Curtain Airbag .

  1. 11.

    On both sides. Disconnect the roof opening panel drain hose.

  1. 12.

    Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness retainer.

  1. 13.

    NOTE: Avoid scratching the painted surfaces. Repair all minor scratches or exposed metal following manufacturer's instructions. Use the same brand pinch weld primer, glass primer and urethane adhesive.
    NOTE: Lubricate the existing urethane adhesive with water to aid while cutting.
    NOTE: Glass Cut Out Wire tool shown in illustration, other tools such as the Deluxe Air Knife or Spatula may be used in various areas as necessary.

    1. 1.

      Using the glass cut-out wire tool, cut the urethane along the body side of the vehicle.

      Use Special Service Tool: 300-AST1770E Deluxe Air Knife.

      Use the General Equipment: Glass Cut-Out Wire

      Use the General Equipment: Spatula

      Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

    1. 2.

      Using a spatula tool or a deluxe air knife or interior trim remover tool, cut the urethane along the front of the vehicle.

    1. 3.

      Using a spatula tool or a deluxe air knife or interior trim remover tool, cut the urethane along the front header panel of the vehicle.

    1. 4.

      Using a spatula tool or a deluxe air knife or interior trim remover tool, cut the urethane along the rear header panel of the vehicle.

    1. 5.

      NOTE: It may be necessary to pry up on the motor mounting bracket area to clear the motor well nuts while cutting urethane.
      NOTE: View from inside vehicle.

      Using a spatula tool or a deluxe air knife or interior trim remover tool, cut the urethane along the rear of the vehicle.

  1. 14.

    With the help of assistants. Remove the roof opening panel frame.
