Roof Opening Panel Track Cleaning

Materials 

Name Specification
Door Latch Lubricant, single - aerosol 5U7Z-19A501-A -

Cleaning 

  1. 1.

    Bend a commercially available 38.1 mm (1.5 in) synthetic brush as shown in illustration for the cleaning of the rear tracks.

  1. 2.

    NOTE: Clean all debris from the brush after each removal from a track to prevent transfer of grease and debris from one track to another.

    LH side shown in illustration, RH side similar. On both sides, insert the synthetic brush at the center of the left hand rear track and slide the brush up and down the full length of the rear track 3 times.

    On both sides, insert an air nozzle into the top of the rear track and blow out any loose debris out while moving down the track.

    On both sides, apply the specified lubricant to the inner track of the rear guide rail.

    1. 1.

      Spread the seal and position the spray nozzle into the inner track and keep in that position while applying the lubricant.

    1. 2.

      NOTE: Lubricant application should take approximately 4 seconds. Keep the seal spread as shown in illustration while applying the lubricant down the track so the spray nozzle tip remains in the inner track.

      Apply the specified lubricant moving down the inner track and stop 152 mm (6 in) from the bottom of the glass.

    On both sides, apply the specified lubricant to the outer track of the rear guide rail.

    1. 1.

      Spread the seal and position the spray nozzle into the outer track and keep in that position while applying the lubricant.

      NOTE: Lubricant application should take approximately 4 seconds. Keep the seal spread as shown in illustration while applying the lubricant down the track so the spray nozzle tip remains in the inner track.

      Apply the specified lubricant moving down the outer track and stop 152 mm (6 in) from the bottom of the glass.

    With the roof opening panel fully open, on both sides, place shop towels as shown in illustration to protect the vehicle interior from possible over spray.

    NOTE: The shop towel must be inserted to the bottom of the guide rail forward of the seam as shown in illustration.

    LH side shown in illustration, RH side similar. On both sides, insert a shop towel into the bottom of the guide rail and around the front of the guide rail to protect the interior of the vehicle from lubricant.

    On both sides, apply the specified lubricant to the inner track of the front guide rail.

      Position the spray nozzle into the inner track and keep in that position while applying the lubricant.

    1. 2.

      NOTE: Lubricant application should take approximately 3 seconds.

      Apply the specified lubricant moving down the inner track and stop 51 mm (2 in.) from the front lifter arm.

    On both sides, apply the specified lubricant to the outer track of the front guide rail.

      NOTE: Inset view is from center of vehicle outward.

      Position the spray nozzle into the outer track and keep in that position while applying the lubricant.

      NOTE: Lubricant application should take approximately 3 seconds.

      Apply the specified lubricant moving down the outer track and stop 51 mm (2 in.) from the front lifter arm.

    On both sides, wipe the excess lubricant from the bottom of the front guide rails.

    Cycle the roof opening panel open and closed 3 times.

      Open the rear deck lid.

      On both sides, clean the excess lubricant that may have drained from the rear track onto the luggage compartment surrounding trim.
