Switch and Controls
The roof opening panel control switch is integrated into the overhead console along with other controls and interior lights. The switch is serviced as an assembly with the overhead console. The roof opening panel control switch may be a touch-sensitive switch that has no motion or sound to indicate the switch has been activated. If the touch-sensitive switch is touched between buttons it will not accept a command. When this happens, move your finger several inches away from the switch to allow the sensor system to reset and accept a new touch command.
When the roof opening panel glass is in the fully closed position, touching the roof opening panel control switch open symbol will activate the one-touch open feature, first opening the roof opening panel shield if it is closed, then opening the roof opening panel glass. When in one-touch open mode (except vent), touching any roof opening panel control switch symbols will cancel the one-touch operation and place the glass at that specific position. The roof opening panel switch has separate roof opening panel shield open and close positions to operate the shield independent from the glass. The shield will not close if the glass is in the open position. With the roof opening panel glass in any open position, touching the roof opening panel control switch close symbol will activate the one-touch close feature. When in one-touch close mode, touching any roof opening panel control switch symbol will cancel the one-touch operation and place the glass at that specific position. In vent one-touch open or close mode the one-touch operation will not manually cancel. Near the end of forward travel while closing, the front and rear of the roof opening panel glass moves downward on lifter arms into the cams. This allows a weather-tight seal when the roof opening panel glass is closed.
If an obstacle is between the glass and the frame when the roof opening panel is closing the contacts inside the anti-pinch switch will touch and signal the motors to reverse direction. Note that the anti-pinch signal is ignored by the motors at predetermined position near the point where the glass begins to move down to seal allowing an air tight seal to the frame. If there is any issue with the pinch switch that causes bounce back and remains for more than 30 seconds the motor will ignore the anti-pinch switch, and after a key cycle will operate the glass by pressing and holding the control switch (manual mode) to open or close.
When the roof opening panel glass is in the closed position, touching the roof opening panel control switch vent symbol will activate the one-touch vent open feature. When the roof opening panel glass is in the vent position, touching the roof opening panel control switch close symbol will activate the one-touch vent close feature.
