SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - SRS indicator stays on, but no DTCs are stored, or cannot be read (2014 2015)

NOTE: 

  1. PGM-FI system check

    -1. Start the engine, and see if the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) also stays on.

    Does the MIL stay on longer than 30 seconds?

    YES 

    Go to the Fuel and Emissions Systems General Troubleshooting Information .

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. System check 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) .

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Check for communication to the SRS with the HDS.

    Does the HDS communicate with the SRS unit?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 16.

  3. DTC check

    -1. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    DTC Description DTC
       

    Are any SRS DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to SRS DTC troubleshooting.

    NO (with ACC)

    Go to step 4.

    NO (without ACC)

    Go to step 6.

  4. E-pretensioner system check

    -1. Check for communication to the E-pretensioner with the HDS.

    Does the HDS communicate with the E-pretensioner unit?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Go to step 8.

  5. E-pretensioner DTC check

    -1. Check for E-pretensioner DTCs with the HDS .

    Are any E-pretensioner DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to E-pretensioner DTC troubleshooting.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Body electrical system DTC check

    -1. Check for body electrical DTCs with the HDS .

    U0151 Gauge control module lost communication with SRS unit  

    Is DTC U0151 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to DTC U0151 troubleshooting .

    NO 

    Go to step 7.

  7. Gauge control module check

    -1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .

    Self diagnostic function

    Does the SRS indicator blinkΩ

    YES 

    Replace the SRS unit .

    NO 

    Replace the gauge control module .

  8. Fuse check 1

    -1. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. E22 (7.5 A)
    Location Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 9.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse, then turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box No. E22 (7.5 A) fuse circuit (right side wire harness or SRS floor wire harness); replace the faulty harness, and retest. If the problem is still present, replace the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box .

  9. Connector connection check 1

    -1. Check the following connector connections.

    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P)
    E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P)
    Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (42P)

    Are the connectors OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 11.

    NO 

    Go to step 10.

  10. System check 2

    -1. Repair the poor connector connections which was cause of the problem in step 9.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

    Does the SRS indicator come on for about 6 seconds and then goes off?

    YES 

    The vehicle is OK at this time.

    NO 

    Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, go to step 11.

  11. Fuse check 2

    -1. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. D34 (30 A)
    Location Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box

    Are the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 12.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse, then turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box No. D34 (30 A) fuse circuit (dashboard wire harness); replace the faulty harness, and retest. If the problem is still present, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box .

  12. Connector connection check 2

    -1. Check the following connector connections.

    Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector C (2P)
    Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P)

    Are the connectors OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 14.

    NO 

    Go to step 13.

  13. System check 3

    -1. Repair the poor connector connections which was cause of the problem in step 12.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

    Does the SRS indicator come on for about 6 seconds and then goes off?

    YES 

    The vehicle is OK at this time.

    NO 

    Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, go to step 14.

  14. Open wire check (IG1 E-PT line) 1

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P)

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P): disconnected
    Test circuit IG1 E-PT
    Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) No. 16 (LT BLU)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Go to step 15.

    NO 

    Open in the right side wire harness, the SRS floor wire harness, or faulty passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box; replace the faulty harness or the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box .

  15. Open wire check (IG1 E-PT line) 2

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P)

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P): disconnected
    E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P): disconnected
    Test circuit IG1 E-PT
    Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) No. 14 (LT BLU)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The IG1 E-PT wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

    NO 

    Open in the right side wire harness, the SRS floor wire harness, or faulty passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box; replace the faulty harness or the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box .

  16. Fuse check 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Check the following fuses.

    Fuse No. E24 (7.5 A)
    No. E19 (10 A)
    Location Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box

    Is the fuses OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 17.

    NO 

    Replace the fuses, then turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box No. E24 (7.5 A) and No. E19 (10 A) fuses circuit (dashboard wire harness, SRS floor wire harness, or front passenger's seat wire harness); replace the faulty harness, and retest. If the problem is still present, replace the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box .

  17. Connector connection check 1

    -1. Check the following connector connections.

    SRS unit connector A (39P)
    Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (4P)

    Are the connectors OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 19.

    NO 

    Go to step 18.

  18. System check 2

    -1. Repair the poor connector connections which was cause of the problem in step 17.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

    Does the SRS indicator come on for about 6 seconds and then goes off?

    YES 

    The vehicle is OK at this time.

    NO 

    Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, go to step 19.

  19. Fuse check 2

    -1. Check the following fuses.

    Fuse No. D12 (20 A)
    No. D34 (30 A)
    Location Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box

    Are the fuses OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 20.

    NO 

    Replace the fuses, then turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box No. D12 (20 A) and No. D34 (30 A) fuses circuit (dashboard wire harness); replace the faulty harness, and retest. If the problem is still present, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box .

  20. Connector connection check 2

    -1. Check the following connector connections.

    Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector H (13P)
    Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P)

    Are the connectors OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 22.

    NO 

    Go to step 21.

  21. System check 3

    -1. Repair the poor connector connections which was cause of the problem in step 20.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

    Does the SRS indicator come on for about 6 seconds and then goes off?

    YES 

    The vehicle is OK at this time.

    NO 

    Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, go to step 22.

  22. Open wire check (VA, VB lines)

    -1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector A (39P)

    -3. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected
    Test circuit VA
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 39
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit VB
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 38

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The VA and VB wires are OK. Go to step 23.

    NO 

    Open in the dashboard wire harness or faulty passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box; replace the dashboard wire harness or the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box .

  23. Open wire check (GND lines)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected
    Test circuit GND
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 36
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit GND
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 37

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The GND wires are OK. Replace the SRS unit .

    NO 

    Open in the dashboard wire harness; check for a poor ground at G504. If the ground is OK, replace the dashboard wire harness.
