SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations - Refer to: SRS Component Location Index (2016), or SRS Component Location Index (2017 2018 2019 2020 2021) and the precautions and procedures before doing repair or service.
Information marked with asterisk 1 (*1) applies to the paddle shifter + (upshift switch) circuit, and with asterisk 2 (*2) applies to the paddle shifter - (downshift switch) circuit.
- Problem verification
- 1. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS when repeatedly pressing and releasing the paddle shifter.
Signal Current conditions Values Unit Shift up Switch on Steering Shift down Switch on Steering Is ON indicated when you are pressing the paddle shifter and OFF with the paddle shifter released?

Go to step 5.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Paddle shifter operation check
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Paddle shifter + (upshift switch) 4P connector* 1 Paddle shifter - (downshift switch) 4P connector* 2 - 2. Test the paddle shifter.
Is the paddle shifter OK?
YES
The paddle shifter is OK. Replace the cable reel subharness - Refer to: Steering Wheel Disassembly and Reassembly (2016 2017 2018) or Steering Wheel Disassembly and Reassembly (2019 2020 2021) .
NO
- Open wire check (HORN GND line)
- 1. Remove the cable reel.
- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Cable reel connector A (20P): disconnected Cable reel connector C (20P): disconnected TCM 58P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Cable reel connector A (20P) (female terminals) No. 6* 1: Cable reel connector A (20P) (female terminals) No. 7* 2: Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The HORN GND wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the HORN GND wire between the cable reel and ground (G401), or repair poor ground (G401).
- Shorted wire check (SUPP line* 1, SDNP line* 2):
- 1.Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
