ABS INDICATOR, BRAKE SYSTEM INDICATOR (RED), VSA INDICATOR & BRAKE SYSTEM INDICATOR (AMBER) DO NOT GO OFF [With Auto Idle Stop System] (2016 2017 2018)
NOTE: Complete the VSA sensor neutral position memorization first if the modulator or the steering angle sensor is replaced.
- All DTCs check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. All DTCs check with the HDS.
All DTCs
Are there DTCs indicated?
YES
Go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 2.
- Fuse check 1
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. A1-4 (20 A) Location Under-hood fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. A1-4 (20 A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 2
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. C7 (15 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 4.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. C7 (15A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 3
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. D2 (7.5 A) Location Auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. D2 (7.5A) fuse circuit.
- DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 check
-1. Remove the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 from the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box, and test it.
Is the relay OK?
YES
The relay is OK. Reinstall the relay, then go to step 6.
NO
Replace the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2.
- Open wire check (IG1 VSA (DC/DC) line) 1
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 11 - Refer to:
VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016 2017 2018) or
VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2019 2020 2021) .Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 VSA (DC/DC) wire is OK. Go to step 11.
NO
Go to step 7.
- Open wire check (IG1 VSA (DC-DC) line) 2
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Remove the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 from the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box.
- 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2: removed VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 4P socket No. 1 Test point 2 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected No. 11 - Refer to:

YES
The IG1 VSA (DC-DC) wire is OK. Go to step 8.
NO
Repair an open in the IG1 VSA (DC-DC) wire between the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 in the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box and the VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector.
- Open wire check (+B OUT2) line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
DC-DC converter connector B (5P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2: removed DC-DC converter connector B (5P): disconnected Test point 1 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 socket No. 2 Test point 2 DC-DC converter connector B (5P) No. 5 Is there continuity?
YES
The +B OUT2 wire is OK. Go to step 9.
NO
Repair an open in the +B OUT2 wire between the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 in the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box and the DC-DC converter connector B.
- Open wire check (IG1 ACG line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2: removed Test point 1 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 socket No. 3 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 ACG wire is OK. Go to step 10.
NO
Repair an open in the IG1 ACG wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 in the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Remove the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 1 from the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box.
- 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode DC-DC converter IG1 relay 1: removed DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2: removed Test point 1 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 socket No. 4 Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Replace the DC-DC converter .
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the GND wire between the DC-DC converter IG1 relay 2 in the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box and the body ground (G301).
- Open wire check (FSR +B line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 4 - Refer to:
VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016 2017 2018) or
VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2019 2020 2021) .Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The FSR +B wire is OK. Go to step 12.
NO
Repair an open in the FSR +B wire between the No. A1-4 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- Open wire check (PGND line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 1 - Refer to:
VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016 2017 2018) or
VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2019 2020 2021) .Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The PGND wire is OK. Go to step 13.
NO
Repair an open in the PGND wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and body ground (G203).
- Open wire check (F-CAN A_H, F-CAN A_L lines)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector Gauge control module 32P connector - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 6 - Refer to:

The F-CAN A_H and F-CAN A_L wires are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit .
NO
Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H and/or F-CAN A_L wire between the gauge control module and the VSA modulator-control unit.
