Electrical Compass

NOTE: 

• Check the vehicle 12 volt battery condition first - Refer to:

  12 Volt Battery Test (With Auto Idle Stop System) or

  12 Volt Battery Test (Without Auto Idle Stop System) .

• Check for B-CAN DTCs and resolve them before troubleshooting.
• Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. DTC check

   -1. Check for hard error codes. How to Troubleshoot the Audio System

   Is the DTC2623 indicated?

   YES 

   Do the DTC2623 troubleshooting.

   NO 

   Go to step 2.

2. Problem verification

   -1. Check if the audio display is flashing the CAL and the NW.

   Are the CAL and the NW flashing?

   YES 

   Reboot the electrical compass unit, and recheck. If the symptom is still present, replace the Electrical Compass Unit - Removal and Installation .

   NO 

   Go to step 3.

3. Compass calibration check

   -1. Do the Electrical Compass Zone Calibration .

   Is the calibration completed?

   YES 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

   NO 

   Go to step 4.

4. System Diagnostic Mode check

   -1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the B-CAN icon status.

   Is the B-CAN icon green?

   YES 

   Replace the Electrical Compass Unit - Removal and Installation .

   NO 

   Go to step 5.

5. Open wire check (B-CAN_H, B-CAN_L lines)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connectors.

   Audio unit connector B (20P)

   Gauge control module 32P connector

   - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Audio unit connector B (20P): disconnected
   	Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Audio unit connector B (20P) No. 3 - Refer to: Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs [Display Audio Type (8-inch Screen)]
   Test point 2	Gauge control module 32P connector No. 27 - Go to:Gauge Control Module Connector for Inputs and Outputs  or

   Test point 1	Audio unit connector B (20P) No. 13 - Refer to: Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs [Display Audio Type (8-inch Screen)] or
   Test point 2	Gauge control module 32P connector No. 26 - Refer to: Gauge Control Module Connector for Inputs and Outputs,

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   Replace the Audio Unit [Display Audio Type (8-inch Screen)] .

   NO 

   Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the gauge control module.
